This Friday, May 18, Virginia Plane will be playing an opening set at The Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta. It’s an early show for us, with doors at 9pm and our set starting soon after. We’ll have the full band playing that night (Mary O., Govind, Tracy, and McGregor), along with Kurt Ebersbach joining us on guitar.

The Starling Family play the middle slot, and Takenobu headlines. It will be a fun night with cool music – join us! Cover is $7 / 21+.

“It was three years ago that we last heard from Mary O. Harrison, the Georgia-based singer/songwriter who has recently recast herself as the driving force behind folk-pop outfit Virginia Plane. Her one and only solo effort, Factory of Days (2008), was a fairly candid record – though imbued with occasional chamber pop flourishes, it dutifully stuck to a confessional aesthetic that placed the greatest emphasis on Harrison’s guileless voice. Virginia Plane may exhibit a more palpable group dynamic than Factory, but it is without question still the brainchild of Harrison, whose pristine fusion of power-pop jangle and folksy lamentation manages to be both unassuming and unsettling.” READ MORE

Mary O. is back from Europe and the band is getting ready for its next show, Saturday, December 3, at 529 in the East Atlanta Village. Virginia Plane will be sharing the bill with Tracy Shedd (on tour from Arizona), Book Club, and The Good Graces. Stay tuned for more details.

August 2 is the kick-off date for the my solo Virginia Plane tour, eight shows in Kentucky, Virginia, New York, Connecticut, and North Carolina. I’m looking forward to getting out on the road, playing in some cool venues, and meeting up with several very talented women who I’ve booked shows with – Tamara Dearing (Louisville), Laura Minor (Manhattan), Anna Bullard (Charlotte), and Valorie Miller (Asheville).

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Highland Inn Ballroom for our CD Release Party Friday night! We had about 100 people in attendance, and Os Ossos played a gorgeous opening set.

Former Tiny Tear Kim Ware sat in on drums with us for a couple of songs, and our friend Kurt Ebersbach joined us for several tunes on the Tele. In addition to playing the new EP, we put some brand new material in the set and included a couple of our favorites from Factory of Days.

The next Virginia Plane shows will be solo shows by Mary O. during her August tour, but we hope to squeeze in an Atlanta full-band show at the end of August. Stay tuned!

CD Release Show June 24

Virginia Plane (formerly Mary O. Harrison & the Tiny Tears) will release our new self-titled EP on Two Sheds Music on Friday, June 24, at Highland Inn Ballroom.

Join Mary O., Tracy, McGregor, and Govind and help us celebrate – we’ll have some special guests joining us during the set as well. The show starts with the authentic Brazilian stylings of the fabulous Os Ossos!

Doors at 9PM, $5, 21+
